First of all, radiological examinations like digital X-rays, CBCT are carried out and it is evaluated by the dentist whether the jaw bone is adequate and perfect for this procedure. Then, the impressions are made of the upper and lower jaw to create a new and beautiful smile for you. Dentist will also assess your medical history or any medical condition.

Surgery

After the examination and assessment, implants are placed in the planned locations that were decided before surgery.

Nowadays, prefabricated surgical guides are also available that are customized according to the patient’s jaw bone density and volume. It will help in precise placement of implants. Afterward, the abutments are attached to implants to make impressions for a temporary set of teeth. In the same sitting, a temporary set of teeth will be delivered to the patient.

Post- implant

After implant placement, bone will fuse to the implant that is called osseointegration but this process will take around 4-6 months. After osseointegration, the dentist will take the final impressions and the permanent prosthesis is fabricated.

But, the final prosthesis is delivered only after 4- 6 months after the implant gets completely fused with the bone properly.

AFTERCARE OF ALL ON 6 DENTAL IMPLANTS

All on 6 dental implants require more care than your natural teeth. After the implant surgery, you have to take some precautions and you can easily resume your work life. If the procedure is performed under general anesthesia, you have too take rest for atleast 1 day to get back to work. Some antibiotics, painkillers and anti- inflammatory medications will be prescribed by your dentist to reduce the discomfort and infection.

Initially for few days, you have to consume liquid and semi-solid diet due to pain and swelling in the mouth. Gradually you can shift to soft diet like fruits, vegetables, rice, etc. After that, when you feel comfortable can include solid food in your diet. But, you have to avoid very hard food to avoid any strain on your implants.

After implant placement, you have to brush your teeth twice a day and regular flossing as well. Water pik is also a good option to be used to clear all the debris accumulated around the teeth

Regular checkups after every 6 months is necessary to maintain good health and long life of implant.
